Crossword puzzles help keep the mind active by encouraging memory, word recall, and problem-solving. Research suggests that activities like crosswords and Sudoku can support cognitive engagement by giving seniors enjoyable mental challenges. As part of each kit, NeuroZAP plans to create and design a packet of crossword and sudoku puzzles so residents have simple activities they complete on their own or enjoy with others.

Craft activities encourage creativity, focus, and hands-on engagement while also supporting fine motor skills. They can be a relaxing and meaningful way for seniors to stay mentally active, express themselves, and enjoy time with others. Some craft activities NeuroZAP aims to include in the kits are making mini plushies, origami, and other simple hands-on projects like coloring or decorating bookmarks.

Card games encourage memory, attention, strategy, and social interaction, making them both fun and mentally engaging. After talking with residents, we found that card games were something many of them enjoyed playing, so we made sure to include them in our kits. We are also currently working to fundraise for more games, like Uno, so we can offer even more activities that residents know and love.
